Advice Class Presentation Freak Out Imagine People Presentations Public Speaking Shy Person Stupid Stuff Underwear
absolutely_fabulous_78 asked:
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep my cool? I usually get really nervous and talk too quickly, or my hands shake and the paper I am holding shakes too which is really embarrasing. I am normally not a shy person but freak out during presentations.I’ve heard all the stupid stuff like imagine people in their underwear, but that is hardly realistic. I want advice that works.

Audience Book Reports Diction Eye Contact Joke Mannerisms Paragraph Presentations Public Speaking Course Short Story Voice Control
ritah asked: My kid will enter 3rd grade in the fall. Is in a very good public school, but they have very few times in the year when kids speak/present to the class. Other schools in the area have weekly/monthly project, book reports that kids present to the class/assembly.
I am thinking of starting an informal ‘public speaking course’ for kids 7-10 yrs old 3-4 days a week in the summer. Basic skills like presenting a joke, short paragraph, short story. Teach themto make eye contact, some body mannerisms, diction, speak clearly, voice control, add a joke. how to begin/end etc.
There are facilities that conduct such courses, but they are about 45 minutes away

I was anyway going to do some mock presentations with my kid at home with family, thought why not gather some kids and have a bigger audience. It would be free, I will record the kids presenting & give them a DVD.
Any input on this idea?
