I’m taking a speech class in the summer and I’m extremely nervous about it! I have a history of depressive anxiety. I already see a psychiatrist too. Is it possible to get Xanax or some other quick acting anxiety medication for the days I have to give a speech? What’s the medication called that they give people when they have a fear of flying? I know it’s an anxiety medication!

I am currently a freshman going to a community college. I know that I will have to take public speaking, but I would like to wait until my 3rd year of college if possible, because by then I will be at a larger university. I would rather take public speaking when I am away from home and don’t know anyone else in the class. I guess I want to get a “fresh start.”
So, would I be able to wait until then? I know this seems like a weird question, but I would rather be around new people when I take this type of class.
