Audience Break Dilema Incarnation Informative Speech Jersey Devil Mass Hysteria Mothman Public Speaking Speach Strange Creatures
thehutch86 asked: I am having a dilema. I can’t decide on what to give an ‘informative’ speech to my class about in Public Speaking. I have to have a visual that ‘makes a break through’ with the audience. My first incarnation of the speech was going to be about how mass hysteria causes differences in description of encounters with strange creatures like the Jersey Devil of Mothman…
But that’d be too lengthy for a 5-7 minute speach and it doesn’t show how anything would work.
So any suggestions? And we’re being videotaped.

Dave S.G. Seattle asked: I will be an older student in 50’s returning to college. There will be presentations that I will need to do in front of my classmates and professors.
I am pretty self conscious about my age, and I already have a fear of speaking in public. I am afraid I will shake like a tree in a hurricane and lose my leafs….any ideas to help?

When I go to answer a question, I know the answer and I start talking and make eye contact with someone and my brain locks, and all i can say is UM….
It’s awful, and embaressing. I don’t know where this came from and it only seemed to happen in ONE CLASS. Now it’s happening in conversations with one or two people. I just get so nervous I get off track and fear what they will say.
What the hell is this, and why am I having this NOW??
I need to fix this soon, because I have a presentation in that class to do in a month.
